AWE donates lab wear to school

AWE has donated lab coats and safety goggles to young pupils at Burnham Copse Primary School, in Tadley.

This is to help those with a keen interest in science who take part in a weekly lunchtime science club.

The club runs continually, with a change of group every six weeks so that as many pupils as wish to can try their hand at the experiments. The science club is aimed at pupils from seven to 11, and gives pupils the opportunity to find out for themselves that science can be fun.

Alex Baptie, the school’s science co-ordinator, said: “ I would like to say thank you to AWE for supporting our science club by providing the equipment.

“The children love wearing the lab coats and goggles as it makes them feel like real scientists! I look forward to working with AWE in the future to provide more equipment to support our science curriculum when required.”

Michele Maidment, AWE Schools Liaison Secretary, said: “We enjoy working with local schools to encourage interest in science, engineering and technology. All the children were enthusiastic. One pupil said that he fulfilled a dream by wearing a proper science coat and he would one day like to be a scientist .”
