Site Director, Haydn Clulow looks ahead to AWE Showcase

With less than 4 weeks to go until the AWE community showcase, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk to you about this unique one day event and why through this rare opportunity, AWE will be able to demonstrate to the local community, the importance of our work.

AWE has played a key part in the growth of the local area over the last 60 years, as both a large employer to over 5,000 people and neighbour.  We continue to pioneer work in technology, science, mathematics and engineering in support of the UK’s deterrent and play a crucial role in the national nuclear security of the country.

AWE experts will be on hand at the showcase on Saturday 27th June at the Burghfield, CSA, to talk about our cutting edge science and technology programmes and the exciting education initiatives we have. The Showcase will give visitors the chance to:

Learn more about how AWE helps local schools, charities  and colleges

Give people the chance to take part in real life science experiments

Find out about AWE’s history and local heritage

Discover more about how we are preserving local wildlife and making the community a safer and greener place to work

Since 1952, AWE and its people have helped to inspire three generations of scientists, technicians and engineers. To celebrate this fantastic achievement,  AWE will be launching a digital storybook in the coming weeks, which captures the stories of inspiring employees past and present.  Our employees, the community and the environment is at the heart of everything we do at AWE and I’m looking forward to celebrating this and seeing many of you at the showcase.  See you there!
