The books, which suit all age ranges, were specifically selected to support the Government’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) agenda.

Michele Maidment, Secretary to the AWE Community Committee said “AWE is committed to supporting local and national charities and good causes with donations, sponsorship and practical help. The community committee is delighted to support Tadley library by donating the science books for the children and local residents to enjoy.”

Tadley Library offers a range of services to the local community, many of whom are AWE employees, these include, books, audio books, periodicals, newspapers, internet, Wi-fi access and a library shop.

Hampshire County Council, Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Communities, Cllr Andrew Gibson said: “The Library Service is grateful to AWE for donating 30 books on science and engineering for all ages. The Summer Reading Challenge has just started in Hampshire libraries, which encourages youngsters aged 4-11 to read a minimum of 6 books over the summer period. More people than ever have joined this year and the new books will be an important addition to this drive.”
