Staff raise £2000 for breast cancer charity

Staff at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) have baked up a storm in aid of
Breast Cancer Awareness month, October.

The Team of keen bakers exceeded the amount raised at Aldermaston last year,
raising £2000 for charity, Breast Cancer NOW last Thursday (October 22).

The pink event took place at the Aldermaston AWE site with staff enjoying cakes and
cupcakes – head to toe in pink. For a small donation staff were able to grab a cake
or biscuit to have with their morning coffee or afternoon tea break.

Caroline Mills who organised the event at AWE Aldermaston said: “I am in awe of
the support everyone has given us for our bake off in aid of Breast Cancer NOW. I
am overwhelmed and would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this
such a successful event.”

Michele Maidment, AWE Community Committee secretary said: “AWE is committed
to supporting local and national charities with donations, sponsorship and practical
help. We are proud of our staff who continue to support the important work the
charities undertake.”
