AWE supports charity
The Atomic Weapons Establishment has donated £5000 to a charity that helps children and young people with disability.
Whizz-Kidz, founded over 25 years ago exists to ensure that disabled children and young people get the equipment, support and training they need to thrive, and to reach their true potential. According to the charity thousands of disabled children across the UK don’t have access to the right wheelchair.
Whizz-Kidz wants to ensure that no young person is held back by a lack of suitable equipment.
This donation was raised by AWE staff members who annually hold fundraising activities in support of AWE’s charities of the year.
Jojo Blythen Regional Fundraising Manager said: “We are immensely grateful that AWE has given a donation of £5,000 to Whizz-Kidz. We will use this funding to be able to ensure that a young person from Berkshire, reaches their potential enabling them to live life to the full. Without the right equipment, children are forced to be dependent on others for everything, unable to enjoy an active, independent and fun childhood, and can find themselves on the margins, unable to join in with their non-disabled peers. But the right piece of equipment can give a child life-changing independence and confidence.”
AWE Community Committee Secretary said: “The AWE community committee is delighted to be able to support this wonderful charity in this way. AWE is committed to supporting local and national charities with donations, sponsorship and practical help.”
