Becoming a Supplier

Becoming a Supplier
Because of the nature of the business at AWE it is difficult to publish forward programmes. Those wishing to become a supplier and to be considered either for general evaluation or specific tenders should contact the Procurement department.
This can be done by e-mail addressed to scm.relmanagement@awe.co.uk stating your key line of business, category interest and giving contact details. The principal categories at AWE plc are: Universities/Training; IT/Telecoms; Materials and Commodities; Manpower; Manufacturing Materials; and Engineering and Construction.
Working at AWE
AWE is a highly regulated site. Working at AWE sites requires a high safety standards, quality management systems and a high degree of compliance with site regulations.
A basic guide for contractors, 'Working at AWE', is issued to all contractors who have undergone the AWE induction programme prior to operating on an AWE site. The guide summarises the key issues about which any contractor should be aware. It does not replace the full requirements which will be specified in the AWE invitation to tender documents called PRISM (see below).
Forms of Contract
AWE plc uses a variety of contract models appropriate to the following requirements. Primarily these are:
• Product (supply or with installation)
• Professional services, including supply of personnel
• Complex construction works and services using NEC, or GC Works/Stores
A number of general conditions will be common to whichever form of contract is used.
PRISM is the invitation to tender suite and is in 5 parts:
• Part 1 – Instruction to tenderers
• Part 2 – Project or work specifications
• Part 3 – AWE General requirements
• Part 4 – Documentation to be returned with tender
• Part 5 – Contract terms and Conditions
Procurement managers are responsible for tailoring the full suite to suit the specific requirements of the required contract and including PRISM in the tender documents.
Business Ethics
AWE plc has a firm code of personal business ethics. The full code can be viewed here. Key elements are:
• Non Solicitation - AWE plc requires its staff and suppliers not to enter into solicitation of personnel
• Sponsorship – AWE plc will not seek sponsorship of events, including charitable events, from suppliers
• Hospitality and Gifts – Hospitality and small business gifts are acceptable but must be recorded and the general guidance is one of ‘appropriateness’. Suppliers should not offer to sponsor celebratory or entertainment events.
Any failure by AWE to comply with our ethics standards should be made to Head of Procurement at AWE.
