IT – Corporate
This team delivers the systems which AWE, like any major organisation, depends on to do business. Our work here is organised into several areas: IT Operations, which deals with the day-to-day workings of the company’s systems; Digital Business Solutions, which provides IT solutions and change management to the business; and Information and Knowledge Management, which deals with governance and security issues as well as looking at how we store information.
IT – High Performance Computing
This team provides the simulation platforms we use for testing and assessing our weapons technology. Since the decision to end underground testing, simulations have become even more important to our understanding of the physical and engineering aspects of our weapons work. The advanced systems we have at our disposal include one of the world’s largest supercomputers.
IT – Telecoms
Our telecoms team provides support for Voice communications across the business for fixed line, mobile and Radio systems. The team is committed to ensuring the efficient running of all Telecoms equipment, many of which are key components of first class Safety Related systems.
