Training & Development

The national importance of our work demands uncompromising standards in everything we do. So naturally, developing the skills our people already have features high on the agenda.
When you join our graduate programme, you’ll not only gain invaluable practical experiences but will benefit from a programme of continuous professional development. Where appropriate, we’ll give you study leave and financial support to help you gain further qualifications, and we’ll encourage you to become a member of relevant professional bodies.
All the time you’ll have the support of a dedicated personal mentor who can offer you advice and guidance on any issues you may have. You’ll also work with your line manager to hone your own development plan, and as part of a close-knit graduate community you’ll help shape the more general aspects of the programme as a whole.
Your induction
The recruitment team will be there to meet and greet you when you arrive at AWE on your first day. They’ll answer any questions you may have and then hand you over to the Employee Development team where you’ll have a three-day orientation course.
- The orientation course provides you with an introduction to AWE and covers the essential elements of Security and Safety so that you are prepared for working at AWE sites.
After that, you’ll have an induction to your specific area with your line manager. The Graduate Development Team will also meet you at some point over the first few days and explain how the graduate programme works in more detail.
