Why choose an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great option for young people who want to get into the world of work. Unlike conventional further education choices such as university, apprenticeships offer the chance to get skills, experience and qualifications all whilst earning a wage on the job.

Apprenticeships can also offer the opportunity of a degree such as a BA or BSC. And whatever apprenticeship- you’ll be earning while learning and gaining the kind of experience and skills that employers are looking for.

There are lots of benefits of an apprenticeship...

  • Money – earn while you learn! Plus no debt on tuition fees!
  • Start your career path- you’ll be able to clearly see the path you need to take in your career and your apprenticeship is the first step
  • Learn from experts- you’ll be supported in your development from experts in the field
  • Qualifications- going down the apprenticeship route doesn’t mean you have to turn your back on a university education. Apprentices can go to university and study for higher qualifications

Apprenticeships have changed substantially over the last decade. You can achieve a full HND Bachelors or Master’s degree apprenticeship, so it’s worth doing your research to see if you can achieve your goal by going down the apprenticeship route.

you can achieve a full HND Bachelors or Master’s degree apprenticeship. It’s important to do your research and see what qualifications you can get throughout your apprenticeship.

MYTH- Doing an apprenticeship means I’m turning my back on further education
Apprentices can go to university and study for higher qualifications

MYTH- I won’t be as employable as someone with a degree
A survey conducted by the National Apprenticeship Service showed that 90% of apprentices either stay employed by the employer that they completed their apprenticeship with, or find another job with a different employer

MYTH- I’ll be badly paid
Apprentices often gain pay rise during their apprenticeship as their skills and experience increase plus you’ll earn while you learn! An apprenticeship offers you so much more than just a wage. You will get on-the-job training and won’t finish with lots of tuition fees!
