Barry Hunter

Deputy Chief Executive & Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Barry joined AWE in October 2021 as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Barry’s primary accountability is to lead all aspects of AWE plc’s Financial, Commercial and Supply Chain activities.

Barry is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales and has an honours degree in Accountancy and Finance from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

Following an early career in banking, Barry held senior roles in several large infrastructure projects including the Thames Tideway Tunnel project in London and the ElecLink interconnector project joining the UK and France high voltage electricity networks. Prior to joining AWE, Barry was Chief Financial Officer of Luton Airport.

We are pleased to note that the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has reported continued and sustained progress across several key areas of regulatory focus, with the Aldermaston site moving to routine attention for nuclear safety in March 2025.
