Iain Coucher, Chief Executive

Iain attended Imperial College, London, graduating in 1982 with a BSc (Eng) in Aeronautical Engineering.  This was followed by an MBA from Henley Management College and, more recently, an MSc in Environmental Decision Making, from the Open University.

His early career was spent at Hunting Engineering (now part of Lockheed Martin), as a missile designer, before going into IT services at EDS until 1999.

Iain became the Chief Executive at TranSys - the original company behind the creation and introduction of the Oystercard travel system, in London.  After this, Iain became the Chief Executive, Tube Lines Group - a company that won the multibillion, 30 year contract to acquire, operate, maintain and modernise the trains, stations and supporting infrastructure of London Underground.

Later, Iain led the creation of Network Rail - a company to acquire Railtrack.  Initially, Deputy Chief Executive and later Chief Executive, Iain led the transformation of one of the biggest and most complex engineering and operating infrastructure organisations.
