Joseph Adams, Director Programme and Supply Chain Management
Joe Adams is Director Programme and Supply Chain Management for AWE. Prior to assuming this position in April 2015, Joe led programme and subcontract management for Lockheed Martin Ship and Aviation Systems. Joe is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in operations, subcontract management, and programme management. As Director of Programme and Subcontract Program Management, Joe managed a broad portfolio of integrated mission systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft, unmanned aircraft, and facilities construction. In this role, Joe was also responsible for Supply Chain Management for Lockheed Martin UK in Havant, Hampshire.
Joe played a key role in starting up the UK Company to execute the Royal Navy Merlin Helicopter programme. Joe held PM and Supply Chain leadership positions where he led the multi-national supply chain delivering mission systems, aircraft and the training facilities at RNAS Culdrose. All forty four Merlin aircraft were delivered on-time and on-budget. Joe’s UK assignment was extended to nine years as he was instrumental in growing an enduring business in the UK.
Following his international assignment, Joe led PM and Supply Chain for Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies in providing large integrated distribution systems and facilities for postal services, airports and commercial customers. Joe was responsible for construction and integration of complex projects in excess of 1M square feet. This start-up emergent business area grew into a large successful enterprise.
Joe also has extensive experience in M&A activity with a proven record of integrating acquisitions into Lockheed Martin. Joe maintains international subcontractor and customer executive relationships throughout the UK, Europe, and Asia. Joe is active in Lockheed Martin’s Programme and Supply Chain professional community and is an instructor in leadership development. He is certified as a Lockheed Martin PM and Subcontract PM. Joe received his BA from Hobart College in Business and Economics and his MBA from the State University of New York.
Interests: Joe recently moved from the Finger Lake Region of New York to Berkshire with his wife, Chris. They have two grown daughters who were partially raised in the UK. Joe enjoys boating, wood working and caring for the grape vines that he has planted.
