Supercomputers like Redwood and Blue Oak offer incredibly advanced computing ability. For the less demanding parts of our workload, requiring small numbers of processors or even just one, we can consider alternative machines.
Galaxy and Quasar are heterogeneous linux-based high performance computers, which make a significant contribution to AWE’s capacity workload of single processor and small parallel jobs.
Galaxy provides 958 Gflop/s, 456 Gbytes and 72 nodules, while Quasar offers 704 Gflop/s, 672 Gbytes, and 18 nodules.
