Model Based Enterprise

Model Based Enterprise (MBE) is a computer-aided systems engineering approach to integrated product management, and is currently being developed throughout industry.

Properly implemented, MBE will provide a significant contribution to AWE’s strategic objectives of modernisation, science-based stockpile stewardship, and maintaining a capability to support Trident.

MBE is a framework that integrates the tools and processes covering the whole product lifecycle. It is a computer-based, configuration-controlled environment in which design, evaluation or manufacturing information created in one system can be seamlessly shared with other product contributors.

The goal of AWE’s MBE team is to develop an initial product concept into a fully specified end result, through a single, increasingly comprehensive database of design and manufacturing information.

Any information used in a particular process should be traceable to a source database. The number of processes the database supports is not fixed, and the system must be flexible enough to accommodate new tools and techniques in the future.
