Underpinning our science-based disciplines is the need to ensure that AWE is able to engineer and integrate a system into service. This highly complex activity is provided by our Warhead Engineering and Systems Engineering teams.
These teams consist of specialists in science, engineering and technology, and their prime focus is to ensure that AWE's nuclear warhead mission is delivered on time, on budget, efficiently and safely.
We must guarantee that AWE has the right capabilities, methods, tools and techniques to ensure that the UK is able to continue to underwrite the Trident in-service system.
The team uses pioneering science-based methodology – a ground-breaking approach which allows us to certify nuclear warheads without underground testing, and to predict the performance of a system which cannot be tested.
