Where you fit in

We know that when it comes to starting your first job, your ambitions and needs can change and evolve. That's why our graduate programme offers a wealth of different opportunities and experiences to help you take your first steps.

We believe that talent is unrelated to gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, social background or any other form of diversity. Whatever your background, we want you to thrive in your role with us, so we'll provide you with all the learning you need to help you grow, both personally and professionally - and support you to enjoy your role and excel in it.

A future in science

If you have a scientific background, the opportunities at AWE are extremely diverse. Whether you're an Environmental Specialist, a Materials and Analytical Scientist, a Physicist or developing counter-terrorism solutions as part of our Nuclear Threat Reduction team, you’ll join a department where you will get the chance to apply and develop the knowledge and skills you gained at university.

The 2-year programme varies greatly depending on the specific area you join. You will also have the opportunity to complete a placement in one or more areas of the business. You may be able to study for a relevant Masters or PhD if it fits with our business needs. Likewise, with our help, you can gain professional accreditations such as Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Physics.

A focus on engineering

The size and range of our business activities create many opportunities for engineers. You could take on a role within our Electrical/Electronic, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems, Civil & Structural or Nuclear Safety teams. While you'll be involved across the product lifecycle, as part of the two year graduate programme, we encourage you to undertake some placements across different areas of the business; giving you experience of both practical and strategic projects. We are interested in your personal and professional development and can help you gain professional accreditations with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Institute Engineering and Technology amongst others.

Support in business services

Our business services include those areas which support the programme and operational activities on a daily basis. They cover every area from Finance and Business Management, Human Resources, IT, Security and Project Management. Join our graduate programme and you'll be part of a team providing essential business activities that support the delivery of our core mission. Whatever role you're in, you'll help develop our business for the future.

We offer a wide range of career opportunities across every area of our business. Join us and we will give you every opportunity to develop your talent and potential, and provide you with unique challenges to expand your knowledge and experience.

Be part of a remarkable team achieving extraordinary things. See where your career path could take you.
