AWE Chief Operating Officer appointed to Nuclear Industry Council

AWE’s Chief Operating Officer, Haydn Clulow has been appointed as an industry representative member of the Nuclear Industry Council (NIC).

The NIC is a joint forum between the nuclear industry and government and its primary role is to provide strategic leadership to the nuclear industry. The Council is co-chaired by Dr Tim Stone CBE, Chairman of the Nuclear Industry Association and Richard Harrington MP, the Minister for Business and Industry at BEIS.

The NIC is comprised of executive-level members from across the nuclear industry, as well as senior representatives from government and regulators. Members are selected to provide a breadth of knowledge and experience and are expected to speak for their areas of expertise, rather than their companies or organisations.

Haydn, who was nominated and successfully selected for NIC industry membership, takes up the role this month and will be serving on the NIC for a two-year period. He said:

“I’m delighted and honoured to be selected to serve as a member of the NIC for industry and to have the opportunity to contribute to and influence UK policy on nuclear issues of significant importance.”

Haydn joined AWE in February 2013 previously having spent 10 years at BAE Systems, predominantly in operations within the (nuclear) Submarine division. Prior to that, Haydn’s career had been exclusively in the car industry latterly working for Bentley Cars before moving into the defence sector.
