Alison Atkinson appointed acting CEO and MD

As of 15 May 2020, we are delighted to welcome Alison Atkinson, as our new acting CEO and MD, taking over from Iain Coucher.

Under Iain’s leadership, AWE made significant improvements in production operations and the management of key capital projects, and prepared AWE for the challenges of the future while maintaining our focus on safety and on making AWE a great employer. Iain will continue to serve in an advisory capacity.

Alison has over 25 years’ experience in establishing, leading and managing business organisations across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, defence, nuclear and maritime, both in the UK and overseas. She joined AWE in 2005 and since then has broadened her experience to include capital projects, site operations, production and programme management, her most recent role being Director of Infrastructure Projects and Delivery. In 2019, Alison was voted the sixth most “Influential Female Engineer in the UK and Europe” by the Financial Times.

We wish both Alison and Iain every success!
