Supporting schools during British Science Week

AWE is joining in the celebrations for British Science Week – which runs from 11th to 20th March in 2022 – and its programme of national events with the aim of celebrating science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM).

AWE has shown its support by making a series of donations to local schools allowing them to purchase science books and kits. In addition, AWE has helped fund the installation of a composting system at St Mary’s School in Mortimer allowing it to compost food waste on site.

British Science Week provides a platform to stimulate and support teachers, STEM professionals, science communicators and the general public to produce and participate in STEM events and activities.

Essential to our school outreach work are our STEM ambassadors who work in partnership with local educational charities so we can engage with lots of students from primary age right through to sixth form.

During British Science Week, Damaris, one of our STEM ambassadors created a fantastic presentation on this year’s theme of ‘growth’ and shared with primary school children from local schools as well as pupils at Queen Mary’s College Primary Science Centre in Basingstoke. You can view part of Damaris’ presentation [below].
