AWE Burghfield achieves British Safety Council award

AWE Burghfield has won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council (BSC). The team gained a Distinction, the highest level of the award, with the highest mark possible.

The international BSC awards recognise organisations which have demonstrated a commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

The award follows last year’s decision by the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR) to remove AWE Burghfield from enhanced regulatory attention.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council said, “The British Safety Council applauds AWE Burghfield on this achievement. The award is in recognition of the commitment and hard work to keep employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”

“The vision of the British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit”.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to the team. All of those working at AWE Burghfield should be enormously proud of their achievement.”
