AWE highlights National Apprenticeship Week

It’s National Apprenticeship Week and AWE’s award-winning apprenticeships are filling up fast!

AWE’s Skills Academy has a long and proud history, with thousands of young people completing their apprenticeships since it opened its doors more than 70 years ago; many are now in senior leadership roles at AWE.

AWE’s apprentices have the opportunity to work in world-class facilities, gaining the knowledge and experience to build a successful career. Our apprenticeships also offer an alternative to university; ranging from intermediate level to a Level 6 Bachelors Degree, covering a broad spectrum of professional skills from Engineering to Project Management.

Mark Lewis, AWE’s head of skills and training, said: “Our focus on training and development enables career progression throughout the organization. We are committed to fostering a workplace culture that celebrates and embraces diversity, ensuring equity for all employees and promoting an inclusive environment.”

Regardless of their chosen path, from day one our apprentices are developing not just their technical capability, but also the personal and business skills required to be successful in future roles.

Rob is a High Performance Computing apprentice at AWE. He says his apprenticeship has been ‘life-changing’ and has enabled him to develop his passion for computing at the highest level. Here he is talking about this work – and his passion!
