AWE William Penney Fellow and academic supervisor recognised in King’s birthday honours

AWE is delighted that William Penney Fellow, Professor Ian Hall, from The University of Manchester and Professor John Irvine, from the University of St Andrews, have been honoured for their work.

Professor Hall was awarded an OBE for services to public health, epidemiology and adult social care, particularly during Covid-19. Professor Hall’s expertise in mathematics, data science and statistics is of major interest to AWE’s mission and he supports a number of projects being undertaken by our sponsored PhD students at Manchester.

Professor Irvine was awarded a CBE for services to the green economy.  His world-leading contribution to the science of energy materials, especially fuel cell and energy conversion technologies, has had major impact across academia, industry and government.
