Operations Apprentice

An Operations Apprentice role will give you your first steps to a career in a diverse and unique environment, involving Manufacturing, Science, and Engineering and other key areas of the business. This would suit candidates that are looking for a new career where a keen eye and precision is a fundamental requirement

As an Operations Apprentice you will be key to providing manufacturing and assemble capabilities to the defence and security of the United Kingdom. You will deliver hands on production and process operations in highly regulated and safety conscious working environment.

Engineering Operative

Have you ever thought you could be a great engineer? Have you always liked fixing things and figuring out how they work? Can you see yourself as a part of the core team working on the nuclear safety for the UK? If so, this is the perfect place to start your engineering journey.

As a qualified Engineering Operative, you will be an integral part of our asset maintenance team, helping to ensure plants and equipment are safe and ready to use. Once your training is complete, you will have experience in maintenance planning, diagnostic and fault-finding techniques, specific safe working practises, maintenance procedures, and environmental regulations that need to be observed.

Following your completion of the Level 2 apprenticeship you can move on to a Level 3 maintenance engineering apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical or mechatronic apprenticeship) and then if you wanted to go further, you could continue onto a Level 6 Degree as a facility/manufacturing engineer.

Please note:

  • The Level 2: Engineering Operative role starts in April 2024. Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of April 1st 2024 due to security clearance requirements.
  • Duration of training: 12 months.
  • Location: The role will be based at our sites in Berkshire, just outside of Reading. A part of the training will be provided at a different location, but travel will be provided.
