Sarah Carter

Interim Chief Legal Officer

As Head of Legal, Sarah leads a team of five lawyers, a trainee solicitor and paralegal. With a high-performing team to assist in the delivery of first-class legal advice to the business, Sarah’s continued focus is to grow and develop the team in order to support the exciting and hyperscale projects AWE is proud to be leading.

Prior to joining AWE, Sarah worked as Legal Counsel (EMEAI) for a large petrochemical company, supporting the business on commercial and employment law matters. Sarah would regularly attend SLT and Board meetings to present and was a regular trainer to the business on legislative changes to the sector impacting sales delivery.

A desire to develop her in-house legal career led her to join AWE seven years ago as Legal Counsel, bringing with her an in-depth knowledge of employment and commercial law and the ability to build trust and respect with her colleagues and leadership. Sarah’s practice has seen her lead the strategy relating to several organisational design changes, combining her legal experience and embedded behaviours to navigate whatever challenges have emerged.

Outside of work, Sarah has two children who keep her on her toes. She loves the outdoors, all things flora and walks with her dog, Lulu.
