Cyber security is critical to our work and in ensuring we deliver on our mission. Our cyber security team really are the best – we’re not kidding when we say that you’ll be working among true experts.
You’ll spend your year in the Cyber Security Operations Centre (SOC), the hub of cyber security at AWE. You will play an integral part in protecting all AWE assets by detecting and responding to cyber threats.
This is placement will help springboard your career in cyber security. If you’re curious, analytical and ready to make an impact then this is a great placement to kick-start your career.
Our work is of the highest national security so you must be a British Citizen to apply.

You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work & 270 hours of annual leave.

What we do at AWE is unique and so are the threats to our mission.
As a member of the Cyber SOC team, you’ll be part of the action by monitoring for external and internal threats, hunting for potential threats, responding to cyber incidents and undertaking investigations.
You’ll also work with cutting-edge tools while diving into data and collaborating with our expert analysts to keep our networks – and therefore our people – safe.
If you choose to return to AWE after you’ve completed your studies, you’ll be working with experts in the field and be supported to help grow and shape what we monitor and how we respond to threat in this rapidly advancing world.
INVESTIGATION | TRACKING | CYBER ANALYSIS
From investigating incidents to stopping hackers in their tracks, you’ll gain hands-on experience that gives you the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice. You’ll learn how to use the latest technology to track suspicious activity and develop your understanding of how to spot potential threats.
