Have you got a passion for protecting the environment? Our environmental and sustainability team works tirelessly to reduce our carbon footprint and manage our environmental obligations through constant improvement in our processes across the business.
This is more than just a placement; it’s your chance to play a direct role in environmental transformation in the nuclear industry and spend your year making a real difference.
Our work is of the highest national security so you must be a British Citizen to apply.

LOCATION: ALDERMASTON NEAR READING
You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work & 270 hours of annual leave.

The opportunity
Work across the whole project lifecycle, from designing greener facilities to finding novel ways to update our existing buildings and sharing new sustainability initiative ideas.
As an Environmental Specialist, we’ll ensure you learn from experts in the field while networking across the business through the projects you work on.
You’ll be part of a real team; working alongside other environmental professionals, facility operators and project managers to share new sustainability initiative ideas.
What you’ll learn
CARBON REDUCTION | PROJECT MANAGEMENT & DELIVERY
During your placement you’ll do more than just shadow, you’ll play an integral role in our projects.
From exploring how we reduce carbon and enhance biodiversity to brainstorming new sustainability initiatives you’ll learn how to navigate environmental legislation, perform risk-based inspections and use assessment tools.
