Our Nuclear Safety Team makes sure that we keep our operations running as they should – and be well-prepared to manage the situation safely and securely should they ever go wrong.
As part of this team, you’ll work to explore scenarios and use our modelling tools to simulate those situations to contribute towards designing smart controls and safety measures to prevent those scenarios from becoming reality.

You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work + 270 hours of annual leave.

You’ll get to work across the full project lifecycle, from designing new facilities to upgrading existing ones, supporting research and production and even helping to safely decommission old sites.
You’ll be solving complex technical problems, modelling accident scenarios and writing details reports on how we manage nuclear, radiological, environmental and conventional risks.
You’ll collaborate with a range of our experts including engineers, operators, project managers and our external regulators.

MAJOR HAZARD ASSESSMENTS | RISK MANAGEMENT | LAWS AND LEGISLATION
You’ll get stuck into the science of major hazard assessments, supporting the analysis of nuclear radiological, chemical, explosives and other major hazards associated with facilities, plant, equipment and products.
You’ll learn how to break down complex risks, model potential accident scenarios and help design safety cases to keep our people safe.
This placement will provide you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of key safety laws, the ONR (Office for Nuclear Regulation) licensing regime and how to apply the ALARP principle (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).
Working under expert guidance, you’ll build the skills to become a trusted voice in one of the integral parts of our business.
