Operations is where the action happens at AWE with our team playing a pivotal role in the delivery of our mission.
You’ll be joining the team that plays an integral part in building the UK’s nuclear deterrent, from precision parts to warhead assembly.
Working on our customer programmes, the team delivers the products and services needed to fulfil the needs of the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) in keeping the UK safe.
Our work is of the highest national security so you must be a British Citizen to apply.
THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED
All degrees are considered but a keen interest in manufacturing, process, planning or leadership would be useful in this area.
You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work + 270 hours of annual leave.

Operations is all about teamwork, making sure materials, testing and services are delivered on time.
You’ll be trained, supported and trusted to help support our mission in a hand-on role at the core of AWE.
You’ll work with skilled professionals in high-security facilities making sure work is carried our safely and securely.
From Process Specialist to Delivery Manager, you will have opportunities for senior progression. Operations experience gives you choices of technical and leadership roles across the business and equips you with a mix of skills applicable to many other areas of our work.
PRODUCTION PLANNING | WORK SCHEDULING | OPERATIONS
In this role you’ll be at the centre of operations gaining hands-on experience working with nuclear and explosive materials. You’ll be fully trained on how to carry out your duties safely and confidently.
You’ll gain experience of how a production facility runs, from planning and safety regulations to teamwork.
You’ll be planning and managing work schedules alongside experienced professionals from a range of business areas including engineering, quality and safety. There will be plenty of opportunities awaiting you should you decide to return to AWE after you complete your degree.
