Ensuring we have strong relationships with our local communities is so important in everything we do. Building trust, offering support, and sharing our expertise with the next generation is hugely influential to who we are as an organisation.
We are one of the largest STEM employers in the local area and support schools across West Berkshire and North Hampshire.
Working in partnership with local educational charities we engage with thousands of students from primary age right through to sixth form.
We provide a wide range of support including inspirational talks, events, workshops and mentoring – all designed to inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Our STEM Ambassadors are always enthusiastic about bringing science to life. This enables the students to aim high and to consider having a profession that directly uses the STEM subjects.
To maintain our work with schools and young learners during the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to get creative by developing a new programme of remote schools’ outreach activities.
Michelle Smith, CEO Education Business Partnership West Berkshire said, “The speed at which AWE has responded during the pandemic, has been fantastic – the resources were so well received by schools and so appreciated. The work AWE delivers makes such a difference to young people across the region.”
