AWE supports local charities for Christmas

AWE staff have shown their generous side for this year’s annual Christmas charity collection, by donating toys, essentials and an impressive 1.5 tonnes of food to a number of deserving charities.

Each year AWE volunteers organise drop-off points enabling staff to make their charitable donations to worthy causes. This year saw a van full of essentials and clothes going to two charities supporting the local community; whilst the food was packed into hampers and distributed to the Trussell Trust’s Basingstoke Foodbank and the toys given to children’s charity Barnardo’s.

The main beneficiary of essential goods was Nishkam SWAT (Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team) to help its local homeless and community support teams. In addition, essentials were also given to The Cowshed, a crisis charity that provides clothing and other items for individuals and families in Berkshire experiencing hardship.

One of AWE’s volunteers at the drop-off point, Dario Castiglione, commented: “It’s always amazing to see the generosity of AWE colleagues and know that local communities will benefit, during what has been a tough year for some. We collected an entire vanload of clothing and toiletries, hundreds of toys, and food so the four charities and their amazing volunteers can ensure it gets to those who need it during the festive season.”
