AWE remembers the fallen

AWE people gathered at the Burghfield and Aldermaston sites today (Thursday) for the annual Act of Remembrance ahead of this weekend’s Remembrance Sunday.

Present at the ceremony were serving, reservist and veteran members of the Armed and Cadet Forces, who were joined by the AWE emergency services, executive directors and employees.

After the familiar words of the Exhortation, a bugler sounded the Last Post. A two-minute silence was observed, broken by the bugler sounding Reveille. The Epitaph was read and wreaths and crosses of Remembrance were laid.

The ceremony honours and commemorates all those who have served, sacrificed and played a vital part in our safety and security.
