DNE 24-hour row challenges AWE team

Today, on the International Day of Charity, we’re proud to spotlight a challenge that brings together endurance, teamwork, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

We’ve challenged our people to join the DNE 24-hour row to raise funds for our chosen charity partner Parents and Children Together (PACT). PACT does incredible work supporting families, and this event is a chance for us to contribute meaningfully while pushing ourselves physically and mentally.

Inspired by the incredible 3,000-mile Atlantic crossing completed by HMS OARDACIOUS, we’ll be taking part in this challenge alongside the UK Ministry of Defence, Royal Navy, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and Submarine Delivery Agency.

This challenge isn’t just about physical strength. It’s about the strength of our values, our people, and our commitment to giving back.

Last year was an incredible success: the 2024 challenge saw an astounding 4,200km rowed across 8 sites with over 450 rowers taking part. This years’ challenge has got even bigger and will be taking place across 11 locations.

We’re confident that our team will bring their brilliance to this event since endurance is something we’re good at. After all, we’ve been helping deliver the UK’s nuclear deterrent for 75 years.

AWE meets requirements of regulatory notice

We welcome the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s decision to close the improvement notice, served last year following an incident on the Aldermaston site at our Explosive Technology Centre. There was no risk to the public or the environment from this incident.
