AWE welcomes ONR Chief Nuclear Inspector’s Report 24/25
AWE welcomes the Chief Nuclear Inspector’s Annual Report 24/25 published today (6 October). We are pleased to note that the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has reported continued and sustained progress across several key areas of regulatory focus, with the Aldermaston site moving to routine attention for nuclear safety in March 2025.
AWE’s Chief Nuclear Officer and Executive Director of Corporate Assurance, Ian Rogers, said: “During the reporting period, we have continued to demonstrate sustained performance in several key areas including leadership, organisational capability, decision-making, and internal assurance and challenge, while working closely with the ONR to close out long-standing regulatory issues following evidenced improvements.
“We are also pleased to note that the ONR considers that adequate processes are in place for the future challenges of a large capital projects programme which is central to our important mission to meet the needs of defence. We will continue to work closely with all our regulators to ensure safety improvements are sustained over time, while holding ourselves to the highest safety and environmental standards.”
