Remembrance Day 2025: Honouring 80 years of resilience and sacrifice
Today, as we face new global challenges, the spirit of Remembrance is just as important as ever, especially on this special anniversary.
This year marks a poignant milestone. 80 years since the end of the Second World War, and 107 years since the end of the First World War.
As we mark 80 years since the guns fell silent in 1945, we remember the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty and who’s sacrifice laid the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today.
For our own Act of Remembrance, there was a high attendance of gatherings and parades from the AWE Armed Forces veterans’ network which also included readings and wreath laying to show our respect. This was then followed by a two-minute silence in honour of the fallen.

Behind every name etched on a memorial lies a story:
of courage, camaraderie, and the cost of peace.
For those who’ve served, remembrance is not confined to a single day.
It lives in memories of shared laughter, mission survived, and the ache of absence.
It’s in the rituals – polishing boots, ironing your uniform, folding flags, standing in formation –
not just out of duty, but out of love and respect.
The parade is our promise:
We remember you.
We honour you.
We carry you with us.
