Community

We know we play a huge role in our communities, be it our neighbours, our people or a national community

What we do goes beyond purely achieving our mission.

As well as building positive relationships with our local communities, being a good neighbour and a responsible business means supporting and delivering programmes of mutual benefit to protect the nation.

Through our educational engagement, we can use our skills to support the future success of the local area – in the interests of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and our future talent pipeline.

We have an ongoing dialogue with our neighbours through our site stakeholder group, the Local Liaison Committee.

Our widely circulated community magazine Connect goes to 38,000 homes and businesses in the vicinity, providing the latest news and information to local residents.

Community

We are engaging with our communities to talk about what we do, our history, our significant role in national defence, and our plans to update our infrastructure.

Local Liaison Committee

Our Local Liaison Committee (LLC) brings together elected representatives in Berkshire and Hampshire and represents around half a million local residents.

STEM education

We have a responsibility to engage communities to instil a genuine passion for STEM subjects among future generations. Additionally, as
a major UK employer of homegrown talent, we must play an active role in nurturing the UK’s talent pipeline through training and development programmes.

A group of people gathered around a table working on robotics projects. Several small robots with wheels and mechanical parts are on the table, along with wires and electronic components. The setting appears to be a classroom or workshop environment focused on technology or engineering.

Several people wearing waterproof waders are working in a shallow, muddy pond, appearing to remove debris or perform maintenance. In the foreground, there is a pile of wet, dark vegetation and mud on an orange container near a wooden fence. The background shows trees and grassy areas surrounding the pond.

Volunteering

Last year, we introduced our new volunteering scheme, ‘Time to Give’
which gives our people the opportunity to use three full days for the benefit of charitable organisations

Charity

We have partnered with Parents And Children Together (PACT) to support local families by fundraising and volunteering time to help with activities.
