In partnership with the Worshipful Company of Engineers and the Engineers Trust, AWE is proud to launch the Defence Industry Early Careers Engineering Prize for 2026.

We are pleased to announce that AWE has been featured in a major publication called ‘Manufacturing momentum: powering a resilient future’ produced by the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB), which celebrates and shares contributions from industry members covering themes of national interest and relevance.

AWE has contributed to a newly published textbook, Nuclear Data: Applications to Society and Industry, released by IOP Publishing and now available online.

We are delighted to announce that AWE materials scientist Scott McCulloch has been appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde.

Today, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) announced its investigation findings following the fatality of a Balfour Beatty employee in 2023, who was working in a construction enclave on AWE’s Aldermaston site.

On 16 October, AWE marked a major milestone in its history with the ‘AWE75: Proud of our past. Prepared for our future.’ event at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London. The event saw over 100 guests from across government, academia and the defence community gather to commemorate AWE’s legacy and look ahead to our future.
