From working on the warhead programme to ensuring our sites and facilities are maintained and improved, our engineers play a pivotal role in the delivery of our mission.
Join our engineering team and you will have the chance to experience a variety of engineering roles where you will make a genuine contribution to keeping the UK safe and secure.
Our work is of the highest national security so you must be a British Citizen to apply and have not lived overseas in last 10 years.
THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED
A minimum 2:2 in any engineering degree discipline. Civil; Electrical/Electronics; General; Integrated; Manufacturing; Structural; Systems; Mechatronics; or Robotics are desirable.
You’ll be based at our Aldermaston site near Reading.
We work a nine-day fortnight. That means every other Friday off work + 270 hours of annual leave.

You could be working on technologies linked to current or future nuclear warheads, advancing nuclear threat reduction, pioneering cutting-edge manufacturing solutions or contributing to our vast infrastructure programme.
Real projects with real impact will be central to your development. You’ll have opportunities to dive into a specialist technical area or explore a variety of engineering disciplines. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll benefit from a tailored development programme covering leadership, business and essential soft skills, all designed to set you up for long-term success.
You’ll also be guided to start working towards your professional registration as a Chartered Engineer, setting the foundations for a recognised and rewarding professional career.
Throughout, you’ll find plenty of ways to get involved through regular events, spontaneous activities and the Recreation Society. You’ll also be assigned a buddy, a mentor and Evolve pathway lead who will help your transition into the business, provide pastoral support and work with you on your development journey.
LEADERSHIP | DESIGN | TESTING & TRIALS
You’ll be working on real projects that support the UK’s nuclear deterrent – think cutting-edge science, advanced manufacturing and planning infrastructure that’s shaping the future.
You’ll be collaborating with specialists and helping to deliver the next generation of ground-breaking engineering advancements, facilities and products. You’ll understand precision components and a range of systems which may include concept generation, design, manufacture and processing, assembly, safety and reliability, maintenance, testing and trials and commissioning.
We can’t spill all the details to you (top secret stuff), but trust us when we say that you’ll be working on some of the most unique projects in the country while working with the most respected experts in their fields.
